December 19th, 2pm @ Phoenix Auditorium
Join three local singer-songwriters – Carolyn Bell, Neavv, & Sarah Osborne – for an engaging afternoon of songs and stories in the round.

CAROLYN BELL
Carolyn Bell is a multi-faceted artist whose love of music, visual arts and writing have always sustained her. She has performed at the Belfry Theatre in Victoria, the Vancouver East Cultural Centre, Vancouver’s legendary Classical Joint, and other venues on the mainland, Vancouver Island, as well as many performances here on Gabriola where she made her home in 2014.
Ronald Heydon, DJ Emeritus of CKUT Radio McGill in Montreal, has this to say: “Her songs are personal, sometimes comical, but mostly vaguely satirical seriousness; like she is singing a journal of her deeply felt and often quirky comments on life and love. Lyrics that only someone with a fine sense of humour mixed with deeply felt emotions could sing. A keen eye and ear for the unexpected, the real life situations that often have a comic side. The suffering is camouflaged. The brave spirit is always in control…she doesn’t have to belt it out..she shares her wisdom with tenderness and a smile…..one is more deeply touched.”

Sarah Osborne is a singer-songwriter from the west coast of Canada. Hailing from a musical family and background in marine biology, this songstress and sea queen draws inspiration from the ballads of her childhood and the beauty and harshness of the natural world.
Sarah has played diverse stages, from train cars crossing the country (Via Rail Artists on Board Program), house concerts in tiny towns, to the Capital Ballroom in Victoria, BC. Merging art and nature in the vessel of her music, Sarah believes art is a powerful tool in inspiring people to make positive changes and care for the natural world.
Taking a pause from her science career, Sarah is living on Gabriola Island, BC in a tiny home among the trees. Most days she can be found working on her SEASONS project (a 4 volume seasonally released album), getting her hands in the dirt, and sharing a good laugh with the locals

NEAVV is an alternative synth pop artist, songwriter and producer, who also just happens to have a Masters in Opera Performance. She’s been writing for over fifteen year and has been repeatedly recognized for her powerful vocals, strong lyrics, and catchy songwriting. Currently signed to a publishing deal with Last Gang Records, NEAVV’s songs have been played on Canadian mainstream radio, charted in the top 10 of US college radio, and featured in film and TV shows. She has also shared the stage with contemporaries Dear Rouge, Bedouin Soundclash, Mother Mother, Scott Helman, among others.
