November 20th, 7 PM @ The Gabriola Community Hall
Gary Fjellgaard, Nathan Tinkham, Ed Peekeekoot
Raised on the farm on the Canadian prairies, this Juno award-winning singer / songwriter is a champion of vanishing values and the frontier spirit. His western heritage and working folks with ties to the land have all been an inspiration for the lyrical imagery in his songs that led him to be inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005. http://fjellgaard.bc.ca/
Nathan Tinkham is a veteran of the country and folk scene for over fifty years. In 1982 he played guitar on Ian Tyson’s first cowboy album and toured and recorded with him over the next fifteen years. He was also a member of the Juno nominated Great Western Orchestra and has played many Cowboy Poetry Festivals across North America. A lifelong fan of cowboy songs, he’s very happy to be collaborating with Gary for this show.
Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and story-teller, Ed Peekeekoot is a skilled and seasoned performer with a timeless kind of cool that appeals to audiences of all ages. Ed’s performances go from blazing guitar work to foot stomping fiddle and haunting Native flute, all sprinkled with his Cree humor and philosophy. He takes people on a wildly varied musical journey from country folk to a touch of classical and jazz.
